Film Making Camp

In Film Making Camp each student writes, shoots, directs and edits his or her own films to polish there skills. Film Making Camp is designed for those people with little or no experience in making films.  This program is basically focused on the fundamental elements of visual storytelling that enable the participants to direct their own projects.

Film Making Camp is split between in-class instruction and on-set production, and the following subjects are taught to be of immediate and practical use in an integrated curriculum.  In longer Film Making Camp these subjects will be treated in greater detail and taken to a higher level than in the shorter programs. The student applies for the lessons learned directly to the films they are making.  Film Making Camp makes more films and therefore they have more opportunities to develop their abilities and employ what they have learned.

In Film Making Camp the students will be introduced to the language and practice of filmmaking. The professionals will discuss the shooting plans for their film projects and screen their work with their instructor throughout the course of the filmmaking process. Directing in any field of filmmaking is approached as the art of visual story-telling. In Film Making Camp the students will find that directing the camera concerns more than just where to place the camera.

In hands-on demonstrations of a particular program, the students will learn how camera movement, visual arrangement, and editing patterns not only depict the action but also express the underlying drama in Film Making Camp. Each and every student directs a series of films in crews of four teams. Film Making Camp helps students to rotate these crews among the principal film crew positions. Crews are required in Film Making Camp to meet each week with the directing instructor to review scripts and shooting plans of the filmmaking process.

In Film Making Camp the students will learn to take a story from initial idea, through treatment and step outline, to a finished script for their final film. The story structure, theme, character, tension, and conflict will be explored as they are used in filmmaking. Film Making Camp teaches students about camera class where students will learn to use there needs and requirements of the concern depending on their choice of workshop. They will learn proper loading in Film Making Camp for operation, and maintenance of the camera.
