The educational objectives of Documentary training is to teach students the art and craft of Documentary Filmmaking and to instruct students through a strict regimen consisting of lectures, seminars, hands-on workshops, and supervised editing to excel in the creative art of documentary storytelling

 

Documentary training goals are to - Gain an understanding of the basics of documentary filmmaking, including the Indian film market, budgeting and funding, Gain pitching skills to successfully promote your documentary idea or completed project, Ability to develop an idea into a treatment, using the research and storytelling tools.

 

There are various film schools that provide 3 months or 6 months diploma courses in undergraduate and post graduate program, but there are also many crash courses or short term courses that provide Documentary training. Though a longer-term course in comparison to a short-term course is preferable because there you get to have more experience and interaction with professionals of the field.   There are workshops held by the institution for the students where they get to meet big names of the industry, who conduct 3 days workshop or 10 days workshop in colleges. Students are getting more benefited as they get to work under trained faculty as well as industry professional.

 

Film schools like Craft film school, Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts and Communication, Impulse filmmaking workshops are offering students Document Training.
